

Margaret "Niña" Rose Mortensen, 74, died February 13, 2013. She was born November 22, 1938 in Lisbon, Portugal to the late Dominic and Mary (Strapp) DeFrancis. She was a 1956 graduate of St. Mary's H.S. in Urbana, Ohio and went on to graduate from The Ohio State University with a degree in Interior Design. She enjoyed sewing, sporting events, band concerts, going to the zoo, making her children's clothing, and being a professional Yankees fan. Niña was a member of St. Anthony Parish where she sang in the choir. She also took part in many different bowling leagues in the past 30 years where she never improved her average score. She was the first woman President of the St. Anthony Athletic Commission and also helped start different sports for girl athletes. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Elizabeth (Bill) Lebkisher. Niña is survived by her husband of 50 years, Leif; children Jonna (Tim) Carney, Heidi (Jack) Stimmel, Erik Mortensen, Kurt (Brenda) Mortensen, Kristen Janson (Pete Thomas), and Thea (Dave) Rudland; grandchildren Sean, Erin, Kaelan, Hanna, Rylan, Kaia, Jacob, Emma, Dan, Jennifer, Nathaniel, Gabriel, and Eliza; brothers Tony (Leane) DeFrancis and Frank DeFrancis; and many cousins, nieces and nephews, and dear friends. Visitation will be held 2-5 PM Sunday, February 17, 2013 at the SCHOEDINGER NORTH CHAPEL 5554 Karl Rd. Columbus, Ohio 43229. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 AM Monday at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 1300 Urban Dr., Columbus, Ohio 43229. Interment Resurrection Cemetery.
