

Margaret Ellen Page Reeder, 88, died peacefully on October 2, 2011, at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. She was born on November 10, 1922, to Amanda Ellen King and Clarence Elbert Page, Sr. She is predeceased by her husband and soul mate of 38 years, Frank C. Reeder, daughter, Caroline Page Reeder Deal, and son-in-law, Richard Noel Maxwell. She is the last of her generation, predeceased by her brothers, sister and their spouses—Adrian (Alice) Page, William King (Dorothy) Page, Charles (Murl) Page, Clarence E. Page, Jr., Elizabeth Ann Page (Russell) Bradley—and nephew and nieces William (Dorothy) Page, Jr., Dorothy Page (Gail) Harris, and Amanda Page Maxwell. She is survived by her daughter, Kathryn Reeder Maxwell, grandsons, Nicholas (Allyson) Kuriger and Matthew Michael Edler, and great-grandchildren, Madison, Nicholas and Nathaniel Kuriger. Surviving nieces and nephews are Harold Page, Ellen Page-Robin, Jenny Page Robinson Fleming, Margaret Ann Page, Sandra Bradley Trupp, and Sharon Bradley (Jerry) Crago, as well as many great and great-great nieces and nephews. Also surviving are David Zwerner, a very special, long-time friend, and Karen Lanning, dear friend and caregiver. Margie was an innovative, passionate and caring person with a deep abiding faith. She graduated from London High School in 1940 and proudly received her diploma in nursing from Mount Carmel Hospital, Columbus, Ohio, in 1943. She was a member of the Mensa Society.
In September 1943, she married Frank Reeder and moved to Dayton, Ohio, were he was Sergeant in the Army Air Corps at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. For 20 years, she practiced as RN in medical, surgical and obstetrical nursing in several Dayton hospitals. In 1964, she changed careers by working in the Medical Records Department at Miami Valley Hospital, soon becoming the department Director. She studied and gained accreditation as a record technician (now Health Information Technologist) in 1972. She became interested in measuring health care quality and developed the position of Health Record Analyst at Miami Valley Hospital and for the Professional Standards Review Organization in Dayton, Ohio. She pioneered area-wide studies of health care practices in hospitals in Dayton and surrounding counties. She lived in Saudi Arabia working as a consultant in developing hospital medical record standardization. In 1985, Margie retired and returned to Columbus, Ohio, where she volunteered at an adult day care center, Daughters of the American Revolution citizenship projects, Stephen Ministries, Laubach Literacy International and The Ohio State University Hospital. She loved poetry and singing with family and friends and was also a long-time choir member of the Dayton Trinity United Methodist Church and the Reynoldsburg United Methodist Church. She traveled both nationally and internationally always open to new experiences and cultures. Margie loved word games and faithfully worked crossword puzzles and cryptoquotes, as well as playing (and winning) at Scrabble. The family would like to thank the staff of Riverside Methodist Hospital in the CICU and Palliative Care Units and the First Community Village Terrace View Unit for their wonderful support and care.
A funeral service will be held at 12 noon, Saturday, October 8, 2011 at Schoedinger Midtown Chapel, 229 E. State St. where the family will receive friends from 11:00 am until time of service.
