Marguerite M. Whiteman, age 93, of Whitehall, died Thursday, May 5, 2022 at the Bickford of Bexley. She was born in Columbus, Ohio on December 2, 1928, a daughter of the late William and Clara (Honeck) Schober. She grew up in German Village and graduated from South High School in 1947. Marguerite began her career as a teller at the Bexley branch of Ohio National Bank (currently known as PNC) and rose to become executive assistant to the President. She joined the Columbus Chapter, International Association of Administrative Professionals (IAAP) and became a very active member. Marguerite served on various chapter committees and Board of Directors' positions and was the 1985-86 Columbus Chapter President. She was a hardworking and dedicated secretary. Marguerite pursued and obtained her Certified Professional Secretaries Certification in 1977, where she passed all six parts of this two day exam in one sitting. This was a huge accomplishment as she was among only a handful of others who had been able to do this. Marguerite epitomized the role of the professional secretary not only in her dress and mannerism, but in her willingness to be a mentor and help others in their pursuit of being a professional secretary. Marguerite earned her BA in business administration and banking from Capital University in the 1980s and became a Private Banker for PNC. She retired from the bank after 50 years of dedicated service. Following her retirement, she continued to work with seniors who needed assistance with their banking. She played the harmonica and helped organize the Jacks & Jills, a musical group that performed at assisted living facilities. An avid baker, Marguerite and her daughter Kathy enjoyed baking and decorating wedding and birthday cakes for family and friends. She will be dearly missed by her sister, Helen Schober; her son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Nicole Whiteman; granddaughter, Sarah (Tyler) Long; great grandchildren, Jayden and Addison Long; nephews Bruce, Rob and Steve Schober; many close friends and especially Debbie Moore and the members of Columbus Chapter, Past Presidents of IAAP.
