Marie Plock, nee Des Roches, born in Chicago on November 16, 1920; died October 16, 2010 in Columbus, OH. Greatly missed by her husband of 59 years Lowell, and her children Susan, Stephen and Gerald, her daughters-in-law Kathleen and Trisha and son-in-law, Joseph, her niece Sharon Hindberg, her Irish Cousins on the South Side, and many close friends and extended family including Susan and Gene Fritz of Mt. Carroll, IL . Lowell Plock’s father, Walter Plock, was born on a farm near Chadwick. Walter’s sister, Cora, was the mother of Veryle Sack a lifelong resident of Mt. Carroll and vacinity. The Plock family has remained close to their relatives in Mt. Carroll for many years. Marie was an exceptionally thoughtful person, a loving wife and mother. While she worked outside the home as an executive secretary most of her life, she would probably be most proud of helping to raise three children: Susan Travers, a professor at Ohio State University, Stephen Plock, an engineer at Cisco Systems and Gerald Plock a management consultant in Little Rock. She supported her husband Lowell, a Petroleum Geologist at Gulf Oil by creating loving home environments and establishing lifelong friendships wherever they were assigned from the Florida Keys to Casper, Wyoming and parts in between. Preceeded in death by her parents, Margaret and George DesRoches, sister Elizabeth and brother George. A funeral mass was said at St. Christina Catholic Church, 11005 S. Homan, Chicago, Wednesday October 20 930 am. Internment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to American Lung Association would be appreciated.
