

Marietta A Ichon Weitzel passed from this earth on Tuesday, December 21, 2021, in Columbus, Ohio. Born December 15, 1946, in Manilla in the Philippines to Juan and Antonina (Baldosa) Abing, both now deceased. She received her B.S. in 1968 from DivineWord University. On June 10, 1974, she married Pacifico Ichon, who passed away on December 23, 2005. On August 7, 2010, she married Dan Weitzel. She is survived by her husband, Dan, and her son, Alvin Ichon. Preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, Domingo (Dolores) Abing; Rosario (Thomas) Stagen Jr.; Juan (Ida) Ichon, Jr.; Teresita (Herbert) Wache. Survived by a half-brother, Juan (Zel) Abing Jr.; in-laws, nieces and nephews of the Abing and Ichon families; Weitzel parents-in-law Tom and Janice Weitzel, brothers and sisters-in-law, Greg (Nancy) Weitzel, Cheri (Steve) Paquette. nieces and nephews. Also survived by special childhood friend, Mila, in her beloved hometown of Balangiga; and a specIal cousin in Chicago, Adelina (Deli) A Tabungar. Marietta had a beautiful smile, delightful laugh, and graciousness that will be greatly missed. She was a good listener, loved going out to eat and traveling; and enjoyed going to movies, picnics, and the Ohio State Fair with her husband, Dan. She had previously been very active in Filipino groups such as Pasco, PASI, and BNP, and treasured her friends and time there. Because of Covid, a Mass and a Celebration of Marietta's life will be held at a later time.
