

Marilyn A. Perry, age 86, passed away Friday, November 16, 2018 in Newton, NJ. She was born to the late Robert H. And Marguerite G. (nee Barnhouse) Mawhorter in Zanesville, OH. In addition to her parents, Marilyn is preceded in death by her husband, Paul J. Perry. She received her Bachelors degree in Education from Bowling Green State University and her Masters degree from The Ohio State University. She was a retired elementary teacher and reading specialist in the Columbus Public School System. Mrs. Perry devoted herself to giving young children a solid foundation in reading skills and life knowledge to set them on a path for success. Always placing the welfare of others before herself, Marilyn lived a life of faith and lovingly caring for and enjoying her family, sharing her vast knowledge of the Bible, and living faith through her work with Emaus Walks, Women's Bible Study Fellowship, Vacation Bible School, Sunday School, and Circle programs at the Church of the Master, selecting books for her church library, and volunteering at a local hospital. She was an active member of Delta Kappa Gamma Society for women educators, having held various officer positions. An avid reader, she also enjoyed writing, sewing, music, travel, and ornithology. Small in stature, but mighty in her ability to share her love and faith, Marilyn was an inspiration to those fortunate enough to cross paths with her. She is survived by her daughter, Karen L. (James) Kozlowski; step-children, Paula (Eric) Pyers, and Delmar (Barbara) Perry; brother, Robert L. (Kay) Mawhorter; 6 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Family will receive friends from 10-11 am on Friday, November 23, 2018 at SCHOEDINGER NORTH CHAPEL, 5554 Karl Rd., Columbus, OH 43229, where a Funeral Service will immediately follow at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations may be offered in Marilyn A. Perry's memory to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 15829, Arlington, VA.
