Marilyn “Anne” Karr Rooney. Born November 29, 1932, passed away August 4, 2013. Long time resident of Grandview Heights and most recently, of Laurelville. Preceded in death by parents, Dick and Hattie (Poling) Karr, sisters and brother, Lois Swepston, Betty and Don Karr, survived by daughters and son, Kathy (Ron) Fleming, Dodie (French) Wood Jr., Carmel Rooney, Kevin (Dorothy) Rooney and Caroline Rooney. Beloved MiMi to grandchildren Brian Fleming, Hannah and Jonathan Rooney, brother John (Ginger) Karr, niece Lesley Hinton, nephews Stacey and Dustin Karr and former spouse, Jerry Rooney. She was Chairwoman of the Grandview Heights Memorial Day Parade for 15 years, bringing to Grandview such luminaries as Woody Hayes, John Glenn and Jack Hanna to serve as Grand Marshal. Under her direction, the parades featured fly overs by military jets which delighted all. Mom was an avid Notre Dame football fan and hearing the TV announcer say: “Here come the Irish!” at the start of home games was one of her favorite things. She had a quick wit, a dry sense of humor and was never hesitant to voice her opinion. Mom dedicated her life to the love and care of her children. We will miss her more than words can say and will cherish her memory forever. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at 6:00PM with visitation one hour prior at the SCHOEDINGER GROVE CITY CHAPEL, 3920 Broadway, Grove City, Ohio. She will be laid to rest at Green Summit Cemetery, Adelphi, Ohio at a later date. Please visit www.Schoedinger.com to share a memory of Anne.
