

Marion Carl “Doc” Brandenberger, age 93, passed away on Sunday, January 22, 2012. He was born in Columbus on September 26, 1918, to the late Carl and Anna Brandenberger. Doc was a graduate of West High School where he excelled in athletics. He was all-state in football, all-city in basketball, and he was a high school State Champion in wrestling. Doc also served our country in the US Army during WWII. As part of the Army Corp of Engineers, he helped construct the Burma Road. After his service, he worked for Harr Printing Company and eventually retired from White Westinghouse. Doc loved fishing, especially on Lake Erie, and he enjoyed being around people. He was a gentle soul, and he loved animals, especially his dog, Harry. He was preceded in death by his wife of 22 years, Mary Pauline Brandenberger; and siblings, Arthur, Clarence, Marguerite, Helen, and Esther. He is survived by son, Bill (Della) Brandenberger; siblings, Lester Brandenberger and Emily Gerwig; granddaughter, Molly; and several nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. on Thursday, January 26, 2012, at the SCHOEDINGER NORRIS CHAPEL, 3920 Broadway, Grove City. A graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday at Green Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
