Marion “Dal” Dalicandro, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, age 97, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on November 20, 2025. Born in 1928 in Greensburg, PA, Marion was the oldest son of parents Nazzio and Rose Dalicandro, who preceded him in death. On June 23, 1949, at the age of 21, Marion married the love of his life, Louise, and they were married for almost 56 years during which they built a beautiful life with their three children. Their close-knit family blossomed to include 6 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, each who knew how much they were loved and cherished.
Marion was the proud owner of an Isaly’s store for several years, where he ran the business with Lousie by his side preparing the menu of home cooked meals from scratch. Marion and Louise made a pact that whoever passed first would leave heads up pennies for the other. Marion found these pennies in the mountains of Tennessee and several other unexpected places over the years. The trail of pennies has now led him back to Lou, as he found his final penny when he was brought to the hospital.
Marion was a current member of St. Aloysius Church and a former member of St. Agnes Church, where he served as an usher for many years. His greatest service, however, was to his family. He exemplified unconditional love and devotion and the importance of faith and hard work throughout his life. His booming voice, huge smile, tight hugs, love of food, talent playing the accordion, and storytelling brought joy to his family and will be incredibly missed.
Marion is preceded in death by his loving wife, Louise; brothers Frank and his wife Jean, Vince and his wife Lois, Robert and his wife Marie; and sister Rosemarie; sisters-in-law Sandy and Jean. He is survived by his son, Kerry (Tess); his two daughters, Patti and Donna; six grandchildren, Matt, Brandy (Dave), Amy, Angie (Marc), Kim and Corey; great-grandchildren Andrew (Lindsey), Blaine, Chase, Bella, Zach, Emma, Alexia, Xander, Gianna, Kruz, Anna, William, and Vale; brothers Nick, John, Tony (Karen); sisters Loretta and Louise (Tom); and numerous other treasured nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Special thanks to the staff at Grant Medical Center and his granddaughter Kim and all her colleagues at Suncrest Hospice for their loving care.
While we wish we had many more years with him, we find comfort and peace that he went home to the Lord and is now reunited with his cherished Lou. Family will receive friends from 4PM to 7PM at SCHOEDINGER HILLTOP CHAPEL, 3030 W. Broad St., Columbus, Ohio on Monday November 24, 2025. A mass of Christian Burial at St. Aloysuis Catholic Church, 2165 W. Broad St., Columbus, Ohio will be held on Tuesday November 25, 2025 at 11AM. Entombment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Aloysius Church or Holy Family Soup Kitchen in memory of Marion.
