Born May 19th 1922 to Clyde and Jannie (nee Bailey) Garrabrant, Eileen or Ene as her family knew her, grew up on the family farm with her beloved siblings, Everett (Ruth), Ben (Margaret), Jollive Pfeiffer (Carl), Richard (Stella), June Harter-Rugg (David, Ted) and her cherished surviving youngest sister, Mona Pierce (Terry).
Her fond memories of her life on the farm with her family became a beautiful topic of remembrance and conversation as she would recall the horse riding and duck tending of her childhood. These early experiences nurtured her love of animals that brought her great joy throughout her lifetime.
Eileen was a hard working, diligent, responsible employee working at several jobs until her retirement as a loyal employee from Western Electric Company.
Her life changed completely when she met, fell in love with, and in 1947 married Mr. Harvey Griffith, a charming, fun loving, handsome, former sailor who devoted his life to her happiness. They enjoyed their many well-loved pets, camping, travel after retirement, and the numerous family celebrations and gatherings that brought them all together.
Eileen's sister, her many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, great- great nieces and nephews and all the people she knew for the 99 years she was with us will remember her always perfectly coifed hair, beautifully manicured nails, fashionable jewelry and clothing, her legendary spunk, and a fierce loyalty to her family or "her people" as she proudly called those she loved so very well. She will be dearly missed and forever remembered.
Funeral arrangements will be handled by Schoedinger Funeral Services, 1051 East Johnstown Rd, Columbus, Ohio. Visitation will be September 8th at 12:00pm. The memorial service will be at 1:00pm followed by a funeral procession to Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
