Marjorie Ausec Wilson

Marjorie Ausec Wilson, 92, of Columbus, Ohio, formerly of Elgin, Illinois, passed away peacefully Sunday, May 27, 2012. She was born February 10, 1920 in Staunton, Illinois to the late Anton and Esther Ausec. While attending the University of Illinois, she met Charles Wilson. They married at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma in 1942, and following then-Captain Wilson’s transfer to the Army Quartermaster’s Subsistence Laboratory, lived in Chicago for the duration of WWII. After the war, they returned to Champaign-Urbana where Charles received his Ph.D. and joined the faculty of the Microbiology Department. In 1951 they moved to Elgin, Illinois, with their one year-old son after Charles took a job with the Borden Company. Marjorie was actively involved in her son’s activities and in the local Garden Club, Home Bureau and bridge clubs. While in Elgin, Marjorie and Charles began the extensive travels, which ultimately took them throughout the U.S. and to every continent but the Antarctic. They moved to Columbus in the early 1970s. There, Marjorie attended the Northwest United Methodist Church. She remained a prolific gardener, orchestrated gourmet lunches, was a member of two antique groups, bridge clubs, and made many dear friends who stayed close to her throughout her increasing infirmity. Marjorie will be deeply missed by those whose lives she touched. In addition to her parents, Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Wilson and sister, Joyce (Howard) Spatt. She is survived by her son, Paul, his wife, Gloria Sodaro, and her grandchildren, Alexandra and Marshall Wilson; her sister, Ellen (Robert) Furtkamp; two nephews; her friends, and the patient and loving caregivers, Denise Cradle and Joyce Boadu, who made it possible for her to remain at home until her death. Family will receive friends Saturday, July 7, 2012 from 1 p.m. until the time of the memorial service at 2 p.m. at SCHOEDINGER WORTHINGTON CHAPEL, 6699 N. High St., Worthington (Just south of I-270).
