

Mark Edward Anderson, age 54, of Columbus passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, May 26, 2011. Mark was born on December 7, 1956 in Toledo, Ohio; he was the son to the late John and Mary Kay (Wenzel) Anderson. Mark is survived by his beloved wife, Barb Anderson; devoted children, Ian, Connor and Jordan; siblings, Dave Anderson, Mike (Carol) Anderson, Jeff Anderson, Kay (Sanford Lubin) Anderson, Boo (Chris) Hensien, Sue (Rick) Nowak, Jane (Rick) Bechtel, Bill (Liz) Anderson, Amy Anderson and Sarah (Ted) Gradel; along with numerous nieces and nephews. Mark was a graduate of St. John’s Jesuit High School in 1975 and Harvard University in 1979, graduating with honors and receiving a bachelor’s in science with a major in biology. While Mark was at Harvard he was active in both the crew and rugby teams. After college he was a member of Zorba and Yobo. Mark was the V.P. and Chief Information Officer for Ohio Hospital Insurance Corporation. He was a longtime member of the Columbus Athletic Club, Brookside Country Club and Cowtown Cycling. Mark had an adventurous soul and loved being outdoors. He had strong friendships everywhere he went and had friends of all ages and every walk of life. Mark had a strong passion for bicycling, especially enjoyed his most recent trip with Europe with Jordan and his cross country US bike trip in his earlier years. He was an avid wood worker and a voracious reader and writer, including for the biking club in Columbus. He will be remembered for his sensitive, giving, kind, selfless and gentle soul along with his infectious laugh and cynical wit. But more then anything else it was his family that brought him the most joy and happiness. The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 2, 2011 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at Schoedinger Worthington Chapel, 6699 N. High St. Worthington, Ohio 43085. Funeral services will be on Friday, June 3, 2011 at 10am at St. Peter Catholic Church, 6899 Smoky Row Road, Columbus, Ohio 43235, Father Justin J. Ries, celebrant.
