

Known as "Uncle Marker" by his family, he enjoyed watching the Reds and
Buckeyes. He enjoyed going to the Windsor Senior Center in Marysville with
Lisa, his service provider from the Union County Dept. of Developmental Disabilities, where he enjoyed playing games, making friends, and other activities. He enjoyed his time with Sean, his case manager. Mark enjoyed helping watch grand dog Marley Mae and spending time with Ryan, Stephanne, Aubrey and Amber Smith in Marysville. Mark enjoyed going to Defiance to see his brother Alan, Julie and family for family events.
Mark also liked going to the Great Darke County Fair in Greenville with his family, it was an annual "must do" when he lived there.
Since Mark had Downs Syndrome, he attended workshop in Preble and Darke County as well as retiring from the Winery at Versailles, Ohio. Mark also participated in the Ohio Special Olympics in years past. He was a member of The St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Greenville and a former member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Richmond, Indiana. Mark's contagious smile and ability to make instant friends has left on us a positive influence more than he ever could have known.
Born on August 15, 1957 in Dayton, Ohio, he was the son of the late Robert Carr and Barbara J, Carr (Howerton). He is survived by his brother Alan (Julie) Howerton of Defiance, Ohio, brother-in-law Rick Smith of Marysville who Mark resided with until recently, and also brother-in-law Keith (Amy) Robbins of Etna Green, Indiana, as well as numerous nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins, and other extended family and friends. Mark was preceded in death, by his mother, Barbara J Carr (Howerton) in 2006, as well as his father, Robert Carr in 1961 and his stepfather, Richard Howerton (1976), his three sisters, Deborah Robbins (2017), Regina Carr (2018) and Vicki Smith (2024), all of whom now are welcoming him to his new Heavenly home.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2026 from 1:00 pm until service time at 1:30 pm in The Well Church of the Nazarene, 1126 N. Maple St., Marysville, Ohio 43040.
Burial will be at the Wares Chapel Cemetery in West Manchester, Ohio in Preble County. Contributions may be made to Bella Care Hospice in Columbus.
