

Mark Renick “Jack” Hawks, Sr., age 96 of Columbus, passed away February 24, 2011. Mark was born and raised in Columbus, son of the late Mark and Margaret Winks Hawks. Also preceded in death by his wife, Clara and best friend and son, Mark R. Hawks, Jr. Mark was a very fun loving man who had a great sense of humor. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service, and was a longtime member of St. John’s Evangelical Protestant Church, Masonic Lodge, and Aladdin Shrine. He was a tremendous O.S.U. Buckeye fan and was a lead usher of the Red Coats for 43 years. He will be missed by his niece, Maureen McKenzie Overturf; great nieces and nephews; daughter-in-law, Brenda; and many dear neighbors and friends. Graveside funeral services will be held at 10 A.M. Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at Green Lawn Cemetery, 1000 Greenlawn Ave. Mark’s family and friends would like to thank all the doctors, nurses, and nurses aides on the 8th floor Geriatric Unit at Grant Medical Center, The Wexner Heritage House, and The Zusman Hospice House for all the wonderful care and compassion they showed.
