Mark Allen Wengerd entered eternal life on June 18, 2026, after an extended illness. Born on April 17, 1960, and raised in Wooster, Ohio, Mark lived a life full of family, faith, and friendship. As one of four boys, he was part of an athletic and loyal band of brothers who attended Triway High School.
Mark moved to Columbus as a student at The Ohio State University and made Central Ohio his home. He built a successful career as a CPA and CFO, working in the healthcare and commercial real estate industries, highlighted by a long tenure with NAI Ohio Equities.
Mark found his greatest joy in spending time with the people he loved and the activities that brought them together. He cherished family vacations and treasured the countless spring and summer days watching his sons play baseball. He enjoyed time on the golf course, loved cooking, and rarely missed an opportunity to follow the Browns, Guardians, Cavs, Buckeyes, and the PGA.
Mark drew great strength from his Catholic faith and his love of Jesus Christ. In his final weeks, he showed us how to live the words of the Gospel of Mark: “Do not fear, only believe.”
He was preceded in death by his father, Eli J. Wengerd; his brother, Gary Wengerd; and his nephew, Edgar Gertsch.
He is survived by Lori and their sons, Joseph Lawrence and Samuel Eli; his mother, Betty “Sue”; his brothers, Stan (Linda) and Mike (Teresa); sister-in-law, Deb; nieces and nephews Melissa Wengerd-Gertsch, Lauren, Anthony, Kirsten, Corey (Brittney), Taylor, Logan (Mackenna), and Macie Young (Jared); his great-nieces and great-nephews, Griffin, Lennon, Casey, and Finley, and his beloved dog, Jaxon.
Mark was a long-time member and past president of the Mercator Club of Columbus, whose mission is to fund organizations that help the youth of Central Ohio.
