

Martha “Marty” Violet Murray Boyer, 91, of Columbus, Ohio passed away peacefully on August 9, 2016. Marty was born in Cambridge City, Indiana on November 3, 1924 to Robert Murray and Lucille (Bowne) Murray. After Robert’s death, Lucille married Grover Selves who Martha called “Dad”. On June 22nd, 1947 Martha and Charles B. Boyer married at Cambridge City Presbyterian Church. As a child, Martha’s family instilled in her a work ethic and social conscience that she carried with her through life. She devoted her life to caring for her family and others in the community. She attended Earlham College, Butler University and graduated from Wittenberg University. Marty loved people and especially children. She began her career as a 6th grade teacher and later served as director and teacher of Covenant Presbyterian Church Preschool. She and her husband were active members of the church congregation. Marty’s life motto was, “Keep on movin’ on”. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles B. Boyer and sister, Helen Murray Beck. Survived by daughter, Janet (Boyer) Kriebel; son-in-law, William Kriebel; son, Eric Boyer; daughter-in-law, Diana (Epifano) Boyer; granddaughters, Anne Kriebel, Sarah Kriebel, Erin (Boyer) Gruenwald and husband, Ryan Gruenwald and Emily (Boyer) Bush and husband, Nick Bush; and great granddaughters, Ava Gruenwald and Emma Gruenwald.
