Marvin was a 1954 graduate of Chapmanville High School in West Virginia. He dedicated nearly 40 years of his life to the Railroad, primarily as a Yardmaster. The focus of his life was his family and his Faith, most recently as an active member of Christian Life Fellowship Church. Marvin loved to travel, visiting 46 States throughout his life with his family. He was also an avid golfer, enjoyed movies and was a huge sports fan. He loved following his favorite teams, one of which was the Ohio State Buckeyes, and always enjoyed discussing sports with family and friends. One of his true passions was also photography, taking thousands of photos throughout the years which would rival any professionally taken photographs.
Marvin is survived by his wife of nearly 62 years, Elizabeth; son, Anthony (Julie) Mathena; grandchildren, Alyssa, Nicholas and Connor Mathena and brother, Jay (Carole) Mathena. He was preceded in death by his sister, Gail Mathena.
There will be a visitation for Marvin on Friday, November 9, 2018 from 9:30am-11:00am followed by a funeral service at 11:00am with burial immediately at Kingwood Memorial Park. Services will take place at Schoedinger Worthington Chapel, 6699 North High Street, Worthington, Ohio, 43085.
