Mary Kyriaki Alatsis passed away on October 5th, 2020 in the comfort of her home in Gahanna, OH surrounded by her family. Mary was born December 12th, 1938 in Akron, OH. She graduated from the University of Akron and pursued a career in Special Education in Akron and Chillicothe. During her years in Chillicothe, she and her husband Alex raised their three children Marika, Dean, and Everett. After retirement, Alex and Mary moved to Gahanna, OH, where they became involved members of Columbus' Greek community. She served as the principal of The Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral's Greek Language School for many years and was involved in the church's local Philoptochos chapter, Choir, and Greek Festival. She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years Alexandros, sisters Evelyn (George) Giovas and Georgia Ann Vourliotakis, Sister-in-law Chrysoula Kokalis, Brother-in-law Niko (Irene) Alatsis, children Marika Alatsis, Dean (DeeAnn) Alatsis, and Everett (Kathila) Alatsis, grandchildren (her greatest joys) Staci, Alex, Abby, Mia, Virginia, and Xander who will miss her very much, as well as an uncle, aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews here in the States and in Greece.
