

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert M. and Bertha (Orrison) McGuire, her husband Robert W. Bright, her son Mark A. Bright, brother Robert O. McGuire, father and mother in-laws Earl E. and Edith E. Bright, and brother-in-law Richard H. Bright.
She is survived by her daughters, Sunny Bright of Upper Arlington, Ohio, and Holly Bright Mayfield (John) of Lakewood Ranch, Florida and grandsons, John Jr., Kenneth, and Robert. She is survived by nephews, Terry McGuire, of Greenville, SC, and Michael McGuire, of Daniel Island, SC; sister-in-law, Karen Bright of Hilliard, OH, and nieces and nephews: Lynne (Charles) Williams of Montclair, New Jersey, Eric (Jenny) Bright of Waltham, MA, Laura (Mark) Cartmille of Upper Arlington, Lita (Brian) Gibson of Cincinnati and Aaron Bright of Hilliard. Also, survived by daughter-in law Kristin Grandell Bright of DeBary, FL.
Mary Jane was born April 28, 1924, on her grandparent’s farm in Morristown, Ohio. She attended North High School and alumna from Upper Arlington High School (1941) and Stephens College (1943) where she studied business and secretarial science. In 1948, she married the late Robert W. Bright (UAHS 1941).
Mary Jane was a former member of York Golf Club, Scioto Country Club, University Park Country Club and Bird Key Yacht Club. Along with her husband and son’s love of flying, Mary Jane soloed a Cessna 172 at Lane Aviation in Columbus, Ohio when she was 40 years old. She was an avid golfer, world traveler, bridge player, bowler, active gardener, charity worker, OSU fan, and loved reading financial newspapers and corporate annual reports. She was active in selling her family business Capitol Sales, Inc., an industrial fastener and distribution company in Columbus, Ohio. Mary Jane will be remembered for her love of life, love of family and friends new and old and love for her country.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 19, 2025, at Schoedinger Northwest, 1740 Zollinger Road, Columbus, OH 43221, where family will receive friends at a reception until 2:00 PM.
