

Mary Elizabeth Douglas, age 89, of Worthington, passed away Sunday, September 20, 2009 at Riverside Methodist Hospital. She was born April 13, 1920 in Hugo, Oklahoma, daughter of the late W.D. and Maude (Ellis) Steen. Mary retired as a speech and hearing therapist with Worthington City Schools after 20 years of service. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Jack E. Douglas in 2002; sisters, Sibyl Cox and Margaret Abshire and brother David Steen. She lived her life as an extraordinarily loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was loved by all who knew her. Mary is survived by her children, Susan Elizabeth (Gary) Parsons, of Worthington, Mary Margaret (Stu) Vosler, of Dublin and John E. Douglas, of Oklahoma City, OK; grandchildren, Michael (Renee), Scott, Casey, Amanda, Brittany (Craig), Taylor, Jacquelyn, Andrew, Benjamin and Collin; other relatives and many friends. She received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Speech Therapy from the University of Oklahoma. Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at SCHOEDINGER WORTHINGTON CHAPEL, 6699 North High St. (1/2 mile South of I-270). Funeral Service will be held 12 Noon Wednesday, September 23, 2009 at Worthington United Methodist Church, 600 High St., Worthington with Rev. Cyndy Garn officiating. Interment in Norman, OK at a later date.
