Dear Mike and Andy,

I am so sorry that Mary has passed away so suddenly. Her brief illness and death has been a sad and traumatic time for you, and my heart goes out to you.

My fondest recollection of Mary is how, early on, she sent me a card where she whole-heartedly welcomed me as a member of the Fulmer family, even though I'm not legally one. She was always kind and thoughtful to me in the 10 years I have known her.

She and I had much in common, both having careers as writers and editors. We each shared a bad allergy to poor grammar and spelling. I remember one afternoon where we shared laughs over various entries in the book, "Eats Shoots and Leaves," a tribute to ambiguous writing.

I will miss her company and the wonderful meals she prepared for us. Her beef burgundy was my favorite dish.

I know you guys miss her terribly. I hope the great memories and photos you have of her will comfort you in times to come.

Dear Andrew and Michael, 
I am so saddened to learn of the homegoing of your Mom, my cousin. When we were children our families would often visit each other and we would have such good times together. Through the years we lost contact with each other until just a few years ago when we got in contact through e-mail. Shortly after that, during a trip to Columbus, my husband and I were able to meet up with your Mom and spend the afternoon reminicing, going out to eat, and reminicing some more. We had such a wonderful time and I will always cherish that special time we had together after all those years apart. Your Mom talked highly and proudly of both of you and I would have loved to have met you. I will surely miss her.

Dear Aunt Mary,  I will miss you and your great sense of humor- it was always fun talking to you.  I have many fond memories of you, and I am so sad that you are gone.  You leave behind the wonderful legacy of your two sons, my dear cousins Andy and Michael.  Much love, Rachel

She always called me #1 Son, or her "Sweet Pea", even though I was a little stinker at times. Mom loved to have a good laugh or to hear a good joke. 
She never once complained about all those things she had to endure late in her life.
Quite the trooper, she put up with a lot of inconveniences that would stymie most people.
I am, of course, saddened at her passing, but will treasure all the memories I have, and will do my best to share them with anyone who'll listen. I am glad to have been close to her these past few years, and able to spend the now all too short a time with her; able to  bend her ear or she bend mine with a 2 hour phone call whenever the mood struck. 
I will Love You, Forever, Mom, and that's a promise I will have no trouble keeping.
