

Mary E. Hartman, age 62 of Canyon Lake, California, passed away Tuesday, July 17, 2018 in Columbus, Ohio. Mary was born in St. Louis, Missouri and grew up in Mount Prospect, Illinois, daughter of the late Francis and Regina Joyce. Mary graduated from Forest View High School, Class of 1974 where she was a cheerleader and sang in the choir. Following high school Mary went on to graduate from the University of Illinois, Class of 1978 and while there she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority and was a manager for the Universities Men's Swim Team. It was there Mary also met her loving husband David and the two of them started their family and began their lives together. Swimming had always been an important part of Mary's life. She has been a life guard, pool manager, and coached numerous teams and swim lessons throughout her life. Mary was also a dedicated teacher's aide focusing on children with autism. She was loving, witty, energetic, clever, accepting of everyone, had a tremendous sense of humor, and everyone's best friend. Most of all, Mary's passion in life was her family; being a supportive wife, mother, and grandmother definitely brought her the most joy. In addition to her parents, Mary is also preceded in death by her brothers-in-law, Dean and Daniel Hartman, and beloved companion, Wrigley. She will be greatly missed by her husband of 38 years, David Hartman; children, Lindsey (Ryan) Schultz and Chris Hartman; grandchildren, Ainsley and Declan Schultz; brothers, Joseph (Denise) and William Joyce; mother-in-law, Barbara (Frank) O'Leary; sisters-in-law, Lynn (Phil) Bengtsen, Laura (Kurt) Daniel, and Cherrie Hartman; faithful companion, Addie; and many other extended family members and dear friends. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00am Saturday, July 28, 2018 at St. Raymond De Penafort church in Mt. Prospect IL Arrangements by SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL.
