Mary June Gallagher James was born June 10, 1920 in Alliance, OH. June was the daughter of Peter A. Gallagher and Alice (Shields) Gallagher. She graduated from Alliance High School and attended Mount Union College. June married her high school sweetheart, John W. James, on August 18, 1943; he was home on leave from the Army at the time. After a short honeymoon and period of time together at Ft. Dicks, he returned to the European Theatre for over two years. On his return from the war they moved to Columbus, OH where John James finished his degree at OSU while June worked to support him. They were married 52 years until his death in 1995, raising four children. June was very involved with her family. She cherished her husband, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was an excellent bridge player and enjoyed reading and traveling. Her greatest joy was her family.
She will be sorely missed. Survivors include her four children: Lee (Dr. Robert) Zimmerman of Dakota Dunes, SD, John Peter James of Cambridge, MA, Kit, (Francis) Johnson of Worthington, OH, Jennie (Dr. Steven) Nicol of Fishers, IN.
