Mary Jean (Brestle) Loveday, 71, of Columbus, passed away on February 21, 2017. Mary Jean was born on March 6, 1945 in Barnsville and grew up in Woodsfield, Ohio, the eldest child of William Potter and Helen (Poehlman) Brestle, both deceased. She graduated from Woodsfield High School in 1963 and attended The Ohio State University.
She was an active member of the St. Andrew Presbyterian Church in Columbus, having served for many years as its financial secretary, and was a faithful member of the Worthington Women's Club. Even though Rheumatoid Arthritis debilitated Mary Jean most of her adult life, she was devoted to serving others. She was a caregiver for her aunt, Mary Poehlman who was disabled, and looked after her aging parents. The pride of her life was her daughter, Amy, and grandson, Eric, whom she babysat, "palled around with" and chauffeured to countless events.
Mary Jean will be greatly missed by her husband Amos J. Loveday; daughter Amy (David) Efland; grandson Eric Efland; brother William (Sue) Brestle; sister Nancy Sue (Ronald) Bolen; and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral service for Mary Jean will be held at 12 noon Friday, February 24, 2017 at the St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, 1450 East Dublin Granville Road, with Reverend Phyllis Heffner officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 am until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mary Jean's memory may be made to the St. Andrew Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund, the Worthington Women's Club, or the Arthritis Foundation by going to www.arthritis.org.
