She is survived by her husband John and children Dr. Robert Montgomery and fiance Amanda Conover of Kennesaw, GA; Christopher Montgomery and Chelly and grandson Henry of Columbus, OH; father Jack Marshall, Sr.; brothers Jack Marshall, Jr. and Sue of Minneapolis, MN, and David Marshall and Martha of Haymarket, VA; brothers and sisters-in-law Dr. William Montgomery and Emily of Katy, TX, and David Montgomery and Judy of Dayton, OH; nieces and nephews including Jenny Adolphs of Rochester, MN, Julia Marshall of Minneapolis, MN, Elizabeth Marshall of Washington, DC, Stephen Marshall of Washington, DC, David Montgomery of Dayton, OH, Dr. Willliam Montgomery, Jr. of Saratoga Springs, NY, Susan Couch of Woodington, WA, Dr. Michelle Ragsdale of Katy, TX. She was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta sorority. Mary Ann began her teaching career in the Dayton Public Schools working at Gardendale Elementary School. Following the family’s move to Darke County in 1979, she taught for seventeen years in the Tri-Village Local School District. This educator, daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, friend, cancer survivor, and quilter was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Greenville, OH, and more recently of St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church in Dublin, OH. She was a life member of the OSU Alumni Association and served for many years on the board of the Darke County Center for the Arts. She was a member of the Duke of Gloucester Society of Colonial Williamsburg. Mary Ann lived a life of service and servanthood, especially cherishing outreach service for the Episcopal Church. A memorial service to celebrate the life of Mary Ann Montgomery will be held on Saturday, March 19, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Greenville, OH. In lieu of flowers, donations are asked for Kobacker House in Columbus, OH, or St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Greenville, OH, or St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church in Dublin, OH, or Episcopal Relief and Development. The family extends special thanks to Dr. William Nahhas and the nursing staff of the Gynecologic Oncology department at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, OH; to Dr. Jeffrey Fowler and the entire nursing staff at the OSU Medical Center Gynecologic Oncology Clinic at The James Cancer Hospital in Columbus, OH, and to the doctors, nurses, techs, and support staff of The Kobacker House hospice in Columbus, OH. Without them, this magnificent life would not have been able to shine through as an example and beacon of hope to others. Arrangements by Schoedinger Northwest Chapel.
