

Born March 2, 1923 to Edward James Mcphillips and Helen Beatrice Terry in Cleveland, Ohio went to be with her Lord December 14, 2019 (96 years old). Mary married Paul R Lunsford in 1942. She was a fulltime wife and mother to 4 beloved children. She accompanied her husband, who was a Major in the United States Air force, until his untimely death on April 25, 1969 at Korat Air force base in Thailand during the Vietnam War. Mary traveled with her husband, during his military career, throughout the United States, Japan, and Panama. After his death she established her residency in Columbus/Grove City, Ohio. She worked briefly at Sears at Westland mall, in the women's department until her retirement. Mary spent her senior years with her amazing life companion Ray H Frazier. They enjoyed dancing at several senior centers in Columbus, Ohio 6 days a week and twice on Saturdays. They also enjoyed weekly bowling at Amos lanes bowling alley and playing tennis. Ray sadly departed on November 11, 2002. She spent her remaining years with wonderful friends and family. Mary enjoyed weekly yoga classes, at the Gillie senior center in Columbus, Ohio. She remained an active participant until just recent months, when she fell ill. Mary spent her winters with her beloved daughter Carol, in Largo, Florida for 25+ years. She had a love for nature and cats. She leaves behind her loved cat Sylass, who brought her companionship and lots of joy. She is proceeded in death by; Terry W. McPhillips (brother), Edward James McPhillips (father), Paul R. Lunsford (husband), Helen Beatrice Terry/McPhillips (mother), Helen Annette McPhillips/Hockner (sister), James Phillip Lunsford (son), Patricia Julia Mcphillips/Moss (sister), and James Edward McPhillips (brother). Mary is survived by 3 loving children; Carol Lunsford/Wexler of Largo, Florida, MaryBeth Lunsford/McElwee of Columbus, Ohio, and Richard Lunsford of Grove City, Ohio. She had many nieces and nephews. She was a loving dear grandmother to 9 and a great grandmother to 11. Mary spent her final days in the home of her granddaughter Denise McElwee and her great granddaughter Stacie Coffey. They were honored and trusted to provide loving care and companionship during her illness, until her heart beat for the last time. She took her final breath of air while her great granddaughter Stacie Coffey sat with her at her bedside comforting her and holding her hand. Mary was very loved by her family. She will be greatly missed. We find comfort knowing she is now resting in the Kingdom of heaven with her many loved ones. Memorial will be held at Schoedinger North Chapel located at 5554 Karl Rd, Columbus, Ohio 43229 from 7-9pm, Friday, December 20, 2019. Graveside services will be held at Acacia Memorial Park Cemetery located at 1880 SOM Center Rd, Mayfield Heights, Ohio 44214 from 1-2pm Saturday December 21, 2019. All are welcome to pay their respects and join her family as we say our final goodbyes.
