Mary Caroline Pence

Mary C. Pence, age 93, passed away on Thursday, December 12, 2013 at Columbus Alzheimer's Care Center. Mary was born on December 30, 1919 in Waynesville, Ohio to the late Walter and Marie (Lippincott) Britain. She was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church where she was housekeeper for 20 years. Mary is well known for being an animal activist and was a pioneer of the rescue animal community.

Preceded in death by her husband, William E. Pence; daughter, Carmeta Harper; 3 brothers and 4 sisters. Survived by her daughter, Christine Kerr; grandchildren, Angela Isaacs, Kathy Gentil, Larry Harper Jr, Mary Jo Shamlin, Becky Slatzer, Jamey Harper and Jonathan Kerr; 19 great grandchildren and many great great grandchildren; sister, Grace Wilson; many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. Visitation will be 6-8 pm Tuesday at the SCHOEDINGER HILLTOP CHAPEL, 3030 W. Broad St. Columbus, Ohio. Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 am Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at Our Mother of Sorrow Chapel in St. Joseph Cemetery. Entombment St. Joseph Cemetery.
