

Mary Kay Welch, 80, of Delaware Ohio passed away peacefully October 17, 2021, at home surrounded by her loving family. Mary Kay devoted her life to her family, along with teaching golf for over 38 years. Preceded in death by her parents Jack and LaDonna Kelly; very beloved brother John Kelly; and sister Jane Kelly Burns. Survived by her loving, wonderful husband of 58 years Craig Welch; three caring children Jack (Noreen) Welch of Worthington, Ohio, Carolyn Welch of Palm Harbor, Florida, Michael (Angie) Welch of Ostrander, Ohio. Four beautiful Grandchildren she adored, Hannah Welch, Joseph Daniel Welch, Nicholas Welch, and Kellyanne Wylie. Also survived by loving nieces and nephews, along with special cousins. Mary Kay was preceded in death by her famous ancestor Stephen Hopkins. He was Mary Kay's great-great grandfather who was a signer of the Declaration of Independence. Mary Kay was a 1963 graduate of The Ohio State University with a major in Health and Physical Education. She taught at North High School for 2 ½ years, volunteered for 3 years at the First Community Trading Post, and worked at Kroger Co. for four years. Mary Kay taught golf to over 1200 adults along with many golf classes for children, too numerous to count. She loved teaching everyone the simple Dream Golf Swing. Mary Kay won the Women's Franklin County golf championship at Scioto Country Club in 1969. She was runner-up in the city tournament two different times. Mary Kay also won the Scioto Country Club Women's Championship in 1958. Mary Kay graduated from Upper Arlington High School in 1959. She first met her husband, Craig, in the 8th grade at a cotillion dance. It was love at first sight, they married August 24,1963 soon after both had graduated from OSU. Mary Kay loved the living word of God, especially the beautiful scripture Isaiah 11:2 (The Kingdom of God). Family will have a private celebration of life at a later date.
