Mary Ellen Wills

A funeral service for Mary Ellen Wills, age 73, of Newark, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 12, at Criss-Schoedinger Funeral Home with Pastor Carol Hall officiating. Burial will take place in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Wills passed away at her home surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, April 9, 2013 following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born December 8, 1939 in Newark, Ohio to the late Craig and Alice (Hanna) Peck.

Mrs. Wills was a homemaker and had been employed with Miller’s Essenplatz from 1999-2011 as a prep cook. She was a member of Mount Carmel Christian Union Church and TOPS. She enjoyed gardening and cooking and was especially known for her delicious noodles.

She is survived by two children, Barb (Matt) Walker and Rick (Tammy) Wills, all of Newark; five grandchildren, Bret Hollis, Mark Hollis, Jr., Justin Wills and Cody Walker, all of Newark, and Tyler Walker of New Albany; great-grandchildren, Johnathan Hollis and Rylynn Walker; siblings, Rhoda (Art) Nichels, Elizabeth (Gary) Busby, Jo Ann (Paul) Streit, Craig (Nancy) Peck, Lawrence Peck, Barbara Peck, Linda (David) Haught, Connie Bush and Patricia (John) Thompson; and many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her faithful companions, her dog, Rusty, and her cat, Bo.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Warren Lee Wills, in 1997; and by a brother and sister-in-law, John and Donna Peck.

Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, April 11, at the funeral home, 179 Granville Street, Newark.
