

Mathilda Jean Frye, age 82 of Columbus, passed away Thursday, July 3, 2014. Jean was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio, daughter of the late Frank and Retha Cornell. Also preceded in death by her sister, Florence Longberry and brother, Frank Cornell, Jr. Jean was educated through the Columbus Public Schools and worked primarily as a secretary with the Ohio House of Representatives. Jean was a woman who lived each day for her family. She was a tremendous wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and held the title of the World's Best Grandma! She was a spiritual woman who was a former member of Broad St. Christian Church and enjoyed watching tennis and golf, traveling and walking beaches with her husband Jack, and also was a Buckeye fan. Jean will be greatly missed by her loving husband of 59 years, Jack J. Frye; son, Jeff (Melinda) Frye of Dublin; grandchildren, Jason (Jessica) Frye of Westerville, Robyn (Shane) Burke of Lexington, Kentucky, Lisa (Anthony) Vaitkevich of Aurora, Colorado, and Jared Frye of Dublin; great grandchildren, Cyrus Frye, Kinley Frye, Caylen Burke, Shelby Burke, and Noah Vaitkevich; and many other extended family members and dear friends. Funeral service will be held at 10 A.M. Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at SCHOEDINGER WORTHINGTON CHAPEL, 6699 N. High St., where family will receive friends from 5-8 P.M. Tuesday. Entombment Kingwood Memorial Park. Jean's family would like to thank the medical staff at Riverside Methodist Hospital, especially floors 6 and 7 as well as the staff at Kobacker House for the wonderful care they gave.
