Melvin D. Phillips, age 57, passed away at Grant Medical Center on Thursday, October 13, 2011. He was born in Columbus on February 25, 1954, to the late Melvin and Melissa Phillips, and was a graduate of Westland High School. Melvin enjoyed fishing, hunting, and being outdoors. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Rose Hughes. He is survived by his children, Michelle, Mitch, Tammy, Amy, and Robert; grandchildren, MyKayla, Kylie, Terry, and Abby; brothers, Tom (Abbi) Phillips, Bill Phillips, and Bob Phillips; sisters, Linda Trent, Kathy (John) Debord, and Barbara Campbell; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and very special friends, Susan and Madison Hess. Family will receive friends from 2-3 p.m. with a memorial service beginning at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, October 18, 2011, at the SCHOEDINGER HILLTOP CHAPEL, 3030 W.
