

A funeral service for Michael James Breneman, age 52, of Newark, will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 19, 2012, at the CRISS-SCHOEDINGER FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Brian Priest officiating. Interment will follow at Eden Cemetery.
Michael was born in Newark on July 24, 1959, and was a graduate of Utica High School. He also attended welding school at C-TEC. He held a career with the federal government, working several years at the Newark Department of Defense, as well as the Defense Supply Center Columbus (DSCC). Michael enjoyed in-depth phone conversations with friends, fishing, listening to talk radio, Science Fiction movies and television, and comic books, especially X-Men. He also had a great love of dogs and children. He was a caring and generous person, always giving whatever he had to others.
Michael was preceded in death by his father, James M. Breneman; grandparents, Clarence and Marjorie Cline, and James and Martha Breneman; and nephew, Tyler Breneman. He is survived by his mother, Ida Degler and his stepfather Jack Degler; siblings, Beth Ann (Donnie) Gayheart, and Steven (Cindy) Breneman; half-siblings, Amy Degler, Brett (Stacey) Degler, Teri, Sherry, and John; and step-sister, Robin (Charlie) Martin; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews; and many close friends, especially Mr. and Mrs. Thurman Swick and family, and Mr. and Mrs. Mike Garven, Christopher Garven and family.
Friends may call one hour prior to the service from 10-11 a.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Mary Ann Township Volunteer Fire Department, or to Eden Church
