

Michael A. Dehlendorf, age 81, died August 16, 2016 after successfully beating renal cell carcinoma 5 times since 1983. Mike was born in St. Louis, MO on July 16, 1935 to Robert O. and Louise B. Dehlendorf. He graduated from Deerfield Academy, Deerfield, Mass. in 1954 and from Middlebury College in Middlebury, Vermont in 1958, where he was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. Following his graduation from Middlebury he entered the US Army Infantry, Ft. Benning, GA as a 2nd Lieutenant where he graduated from Infantry Officers’ Leadership Class. Following Ft. Benning, he served as a Company Commander at Ft. Knox, KY where he left active duty as a 1st Lieutenant. He served a total of 7 years which included time in the US Navy. Shortly after fulfilling his military duty, he worked for what is now known as Exxon Mobil until entering the real estate development business. Mike was the first President of Ohio Equities under John W. Wolfe. He stayed as President until the mid 70’s when he formed Dehlendorf & Company. He and his company were involved in the development of thousands of acres, which included three championship golf courses. His interest in golf resulted in Founding Memberships at both Wedgewood and Jefferson Golf and County Clubs. He served as a Franklin County Jury Commissioner for more than 20 years.
Mike is survived by his wife of 58 years, Constance Crabbe Dehlendorf, his three children Laura E. Dehlendorf, Michael B. Dehlendorf (Luda), Matthew C. Dehlendorf (Traci) and four grandsons; Cole, Roth, Gabriel and Sasha. The two oldest grandsons are just about to start their first year in college; Cole at Parsons School of Design in NYC and Roth at Miami University in Oxford, OH. Mike was so proud of his grandsons. He is also survived by brother Robert O. (Joan) of Monterey, CA, brother David A. (Susie) of San Juan Island, WA, nephew Scott Robert (Jackie) of Bozeman, MT, and former minister and good friend Russ Clark.
Mike was a Member of Jefferson Golf & Country Club, Wedgewood Golf and Country Club, and Bexley United Methodist Church where, he and his beloved wife and best friend, Connie were married in 1958. He was a past member of The Golf Club, The Columbus Country Club, and The Athletic Club.
There will be a private interment. The memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, August 27, 2016 at Bexley United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends at The Columbus Country Club immediately following the service. Mike requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to Bexley United Methodist Church, 2657 E.
