Born on May 6, 1942, to Richard J. Strebel and Margaret A. (Benham) Strebel, Michael lived a life marked by faith, service, hard work, and quiet devotion to those and the things he loved.
Michael proudly served his country in the United States Army during the mid-1960s. Stationed at Camp Stanley in South Korea, he worked alongside the Army Corps of Engineers helping rebuild roads and infrastructure during the post-war years.
Following his time in the Army, Michael dedicated the majority of his working career to Porcelain Steel Building Company, where he remained until his retirement. He was known for his strong work ethic, dependability, and commitment to doing a job well.
Faith played a central role in Michael's life. He was a devoted member of Darby Creek Church, where he faithfully worshiped and willingly served. Among the many ways he contributed, Michael took pride in caring for the church grounds, often mowing the lawn and helping wherever he was needed. If the church lawn needed mowing, Michael could usually be found already taking care of it. His actions reflected a quiet humility and servant's heart.
Michael never married and had no children of his own, but he was a beloved brother, uncle, great-uncle, and friend. He remained closely connected to his family and took joy in watching younger generations grow and thrive.
Michael had a special love for cats and shared his home over the years with several cherished companions, including Casper, Buddy, Buster and most recently, Lady Jane. Buddy held a particularly special place in his heart and was a source of great companionship and happiness. Lady Jane remained his faithful companion in recent years.
In his free time, Michael enjoyed watching classic Westerns, cheering for the Cleveland Guardians, and rooting for The Ohio State Buckeyes. He appreciated life's simple pleasures and found contentment in faith, family, and familiar traditions.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Richard J. Strebel and Margaret A. Strebel; and his brothers, Patrick E. Strebel and James C. Strebel.
He is survived by his sister, Sally Ann Eilts (Strebel), special friend, Colleen Kelley, along with his nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-niece and other extended family members who will remember him with love, gratitude, and affection.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Darby Creek Church on June 28, 2026, where family and friends will gather to honor and celebrate Michael's life, faith, and legacy.
Michael will be remembered for his steadfast faith, humble service, love of family, loyalty to those he cared about, and the quiet kindness that defined his life.
