Mickey’s career started in television, at WLW-T, where she started out in the steno pool, but in a few short weeks she was asked to interview for a very prestigious job. She was chosen to be the personal and private secretary for none other than Ruth Lyons. It was truly a job she adored, in fact she did not look at it as a job, but a blessing to work with this wonderful woman. Mickey worked for Ruth until her retirement. Upon Ruth’s retirement, Mickey and her husband and children moved to Edina, MN where she worked for the President and CEO of International Dairy Queen. Mickey moved back to Cincinnati with her family and went back to work for WLW-T. Mickey’s biggest dream came true when she was asked to run The Ruth Lyons Christmas Fund. It only seemed fitting that she ended her career doing what she loved.
Mickey is being cremated and no funeral service will take place. A Celebration of Mickey’s Life will be held later. Further details regarding her memorial services will be provided by the family at a later date.
Gifts to honor Mickey’s memory can be made to Ruth Lyons Children’s Fund, PO Box 59, Cincinnati, OH 45201.
