The last time I saw Aunt Millie was the afternoon of Thursday, November 16, 2017 after her hip surgery. My first glimpse of her was the nurses wheeling her down the hallway to the ICU Recovery. I didn't really recognize Aunt Millie. She looked so small in that huge bed.  At first glance, I  thought she was a little girl. As I stepped to the side to allow the bed to pass, I  realized it was Aunt Millie in the bed and not a small child. Upon reflecting the matter, I  remembered Aunt Millie was always very petite.  After the nurses got Aunt Millie settled in ICU, we were allowed to go in. Aunt Millie was going in and out of consciousness. You know, that's how it is after surgery. It's the affects of the anesthesia.  When we walked into the room, her face lit up because she recognized us and she tried to pull off her oxygen mask to talk. But, we restrained her from doing so because she was having difficulty breathing. I guess I am telling you all this to get to the part of the story that I will never forget. We gathered around Aunt Millie's bed to anoint her with oil and pray for her. There was such a presence of God in the room. I remarked on it several times to the others. It seemed to come in waves and raise up every hair on my body. It felt like the atmosphere was charged with electricity. I told the nurse to take good care of my Aunt, because he had been entrusted with the care of a woman that was blessed and highly favored by God. Since I  was not able to actually talk with my Aunt, I had planned to come back after church on Sunday and read her the Bible. Janet said she would like that because she had requested that her Bible be bought to the hospital. Sadly on Sunday after leaving church, I checked my phone only to learn that Aunt Millie was in Heaven. As I  relayed the information to my husband, I again felt the presence of God fill the car when I just spoke her name. I had told my husband after we left the hospital on Thursday that I wondered if what we had felt in the hospital room was the presence of angels waiting to take Aunt Millie home. My heart is sad because she is no longer with us, but yet I am rejoicing at the same time because I am certain that "to be absent from the body is to be present with Christ". I am fully persuaded that Aunt Millie is dancing on streets of gold today. And, it is impossible for me to be sad about that!

Pretty Please was purchased for the family of Mildred "Millie" Jordan.

When I was a child Aunt Millie's Mother would make the best Christmas cookies and I would look forward to receiving then, it is a good memory. I was always glad to see Aunt Millie  and uncle eugene and I.m sadden at her passing. My deepest condolences Janet. Your cousin Ruth Jordan- Lawson
