Mildred Preston

Mildred I. Preston (Millie) age 93, formerly from Columbus, passed away on Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at Country View of Sunbury. Mildred was born on March 2, 1928 in Columbus to Ward and Alma (Barcus) McGinnis. She was a charter member of Beverly Ohio VFW Auxiliary #6100, Life Member of VFW Auxiliary #6065 and American Legion #164 of Grove City. Life Member of OES Ostrander Chapter #476 and Worthington Chapter OES #287. Mildred loved to play cards, taking bus trips and cruises. She was a big OSU football fan. She would proudly wear her scarlet and gray and watch/listen to every football game. She loved going to support her grandchildren at baseball/softball games when possible. She was an active member in her apartment complex, volunteering in many social events like instructing weekly exercise classes, water aerobics, and swimming pool monitor, along with many other activities.

Preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Preston; brothers Warren "Glen" McGinnis, Harry Canter, Paul Canter, Bill Hummel, and Dudley "Sunny" Quick Jr.; sisters, Leora Lane, Mary Gursky, Kay Troutman; and son, Terry Beachman. Survived by her brothers, Ward Nihiser and Milton McGinnis; daughter, Faye (Steve) Schorr and family; grandchildren, Teresa (Chris) Williamson and Kenneth (April) Beachman ; Great grandchildren, Micailla Beachman, Juan Oviedo, Katey Beachman, Renee, Missy and Christopher Williamson; and great great grandson, Miguel Oviedo; many nieces and nephews including great and great great. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 1, 2022 from 4-7 pm at Heart and Hope Funeral Home by Schoedinger , 3030 West Broad St, Columbus, Ohio 43204 where a celebration will be held on March 2, 2022 honoring her life at 1:00 pm. Interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to Country View of Sunbury for the great care they took of her over the last year.
