

Miriam Phyllis Frank Simmons, age 86, passed away peacefully August 29, 2012. She was born August 5, 1926 in Portsmouth, Ohio to the late Harold & Frances (Ward) Frank. Miriam was a graduate of The Ohio State University and went on to teach first grade for 32 years in Whitehall schools. After retiring, she started volunteering with the Ohio Historical Society and with the SOHOMA group. Miriam enjoyed traveling on river boats, contra dancing, going on road trips, and spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her loving husband, of 62 years, August; children, Pamela Kimura, Harold (Rosemary) Simmons, Katherine Shellaberger, and Joyce (Robert) Marrazzi; grandchildren, Melissa, Daniel, Angela (Paul), Rhonda, Laura, Beth, Sarah, Tony (Johanna), Melissa (Charles), and Andrea (Chuck); great-grandchildren, Samantha (Keaton), Shawn, Olivia, Anna Marie, Chelsey, Vincent, and Alissia; and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, August 31, at the SCHOEDINGER EAST CHAPEL, 5360 E. Livingston Ave., Columbus, Ohio 43232. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home, Rev. Herbert Goetz, Retired U.S. Navy Chaplain, officiating.
