Monica Danita Ruskin

Monica was born on October 24, 1964, in LaGrange, Georgia, to the late Minnie Lois Ruskin. She was raised in Chicago, Illinois, where she built a life centered on faith, family, and compassion for others.

Monica will lovingly be remembered as a hardworking and dedicated woman whose home and heart were always open to everyone. She had a warm and gentle spirit and found joy in cooking, baking, sewing, fashion, and caring for her plants. Monica especially treasured spending time with family during holidays and gatherings. She was a longtime faithful member of Monumental Baptist Church in Chicago.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Tyeishia Latsee Ruskin, Lymott Ruskin, Andrew (Marie) Ruskin, Andre Ruskin, Montreal Barrett, Lymonica (Brandonlee) Berry, Lania Barrett, and Kailey Barrett and her fiancé, Parris Bennett; her grandchildren whom she cherished, Tinazia Johnson, Jayeishia Johnson, J.J. Johnson, Eugene Johnson, Autumn Lee, Gisele Ruskin, Andrea Ruskin, Ariah Barrett, Rhiannon Barrett, Trayvone Blake, Love’lee Berry, Blue’lee Berry, Jewel’lee Berry, Bay’lee Berry, Rye’lee Berry, Tru’lee Berry, Prez’lee Berry, Arinna Woods, Jamarion Small, Sebastian Bennett, and Erin Bennett; great-grandchildren, Kaleb Johnson and K’ani Johnson; siblings, Tonya Spear, Sharon Cooley, Walter Ruskin, Raven Ruskin, Michael Ruskin, and Shawn Ruskin; along with a host of extended family members and dear friends who will miss her deeply.

Family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at Schoedinger East, 5360 E. Livingston Ave., Columbus, OH 43232, where the funeral service will begin at 1:00 pm. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
