Moreen Mavourneen McCann Gutknecht, passed away on Thursday, December 20, 2012. She was surrounded by her family. Moreen was born September 6 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to the late Ethel B. and Robert F. McCann. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold C. Gutknecht. Moreen graduated from West Division High School and attended the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She moved to Columbus, Ohio in 1959. Moreen was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church and the Women’s Guild of the Arthritis Foundation, where she was treasurer of the guild for many years. She was a former employee of Rance, Pritchett, Brantner, Keller and Ely Co., LPA. But the years she spent building Gutknecht Construction Company with her husband and founder, Harold, were particularly satisfying for both of them. Moreen enjoyed life-especially when she was sharing it with her many friends and family. She was an Irish lass at heart and spent many St. Patrick’s Days celebrating her heritage. In later years, she treasured her time snowmobiling in Michigan, wintering in Florida and traveling with her husband and friends. She also loved a good book. Moreen will be fondly remembered as a wonderful and compassionate mother and friend. Moreen will be greatly missed by her three daughters, Cherie (Rich) Erdlitz, of Johnsburg, IL, Lauren (Sam) Thomas, of Columbus, OH., Jane (Mark) Perkins, of Zionsville, IN; her seven grandsons, Matthew (Angela) Erdlitz, Michael Erdlitz, Alexander, Brian and Eric Thomas, Nicholas and Daniel Perkins; and great-granddaughter, Ada Erdlitz. She is also survived by several close girlfriends as well as her two constant companions during these two years- Spike and Kirby. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Margaret Mary McCann. Friends may call 6-8 pm Wednesday, December 26, 2012 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Road, where funeral service will be held 11:30 a.m. Thursday, December 27, 2012.
