Nancy Sue Kimberly, 86, passed away peacefully at Helen Purcell/Shinnick Center, where she resided for the last 2 1/2 years. She was born October 3, 1939, in Columbus, Ohio, a daughter to the late William and Beryl Cozzens. She was a member of the Glee Club and school band at Westerville High School, and attended both Juniata College in Pennsylvania and Otterbein University in Westerville. She was a talented piano player and an excellent cook, known for her famous lasagna, and hosting many holiday parties with her family for numerous years.
After raising her children until they reached school age, Nancy began her professional career. She worked at the Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission, then later at the Ohio Company, and also the Columbus Dispatch, where her work included corporate travel.
Nancy had a lifelong love of gardening, cooking, sports (especially cheering for the Ohio State Buckeyes as season ticket holders for years), golfing, and spending time with her family. She treasured family gatherings, music, and moments of laughter with friends and loved ones.
She is survived by her children, Steve (Sue) Kimberly and Susie (Ken) White; her grandchildren, Emma (Doug) Welker, Nolan (Angela) Kimberly, and Michael Koza; and many wonderful nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Howard Kimberly; and her brother, William "Bill" Cozzens.
Nancy's family remembers her as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, whose kindness, sense of humor, and devotion to her loved ones enriched every life she touched. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
A funeral service to celebrate Nancy's life will be held on Saturday, March 28th, promptly at 3 p.m. at Schoedinger Northwest Funeral Home, 1740 Zollinger Road, Columbus, OH 43221, with visitation hours following the service from 4-6 p.m. at the same location.
