Nancy Nolan Kincaid, 73, of Columbus, passed away Thursday, August 15, 2013 after a courageous and hard-fought battle with brain cancer. She was born March 31, 1940, in Athens, Ohio to the late Frank and Margaret Alice Nolan.
Nancy graduated from Athens H.S. and then received her B.S. and Masters of Education from the OSU College of Nursing. She went on to teach nursing at Duke University. She took a break from work to raise her family and then went back to work in the College of Nursing at OSU as a guidance counselor for nurses.
Nancy was active in Pi Beta Phi. She volunteered at Riverside Hospital, in the ER and served on the Riverside Oncology Service Board where she helped organize the high tea and fashion show. Nancy volunteered and taught a family to family class at the local NAMI of Columbus Chapter.
She loved walking through Westwood Acres, often several times a day, and cherished the life-long friendships with many of her neighbors. Nancy would do anything for anyone. Her last New Year’s resolution before she started her fight with cancer was to do as many good deeds a day as she could without being noticed. She had a fondness for animals and a love of music. She was a devoted mother to her sons and grandmother to her three grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Kincaid. Nancy will be missed by her sons, Michael (Stephanie) Kincaid and John Kincaid; three granddaughters whom she loved more than anything in the world; brother, Mike (Susan) Nolan; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Dick and Ellen Sandrock.
Many thanks to the wonderful people at the Kobacker House with special thanks to Joan, Lucinda, and Sandy.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Nancy’s memory to National NAMI, 3803 N. Fairfax Dr., Ste. 100, Arlington, VA 22203.
