The oldest of four children, Nancy was a proud daughter of Lebanon, Ohio and a graduate of The Ohio State University. She leaves a legacy of extensive community involvement with service to Alpha Phi Sorority, The American Heart Association, The Childhood League Center, and a longstanding commitment to The Buckeye Ranch.
In addition to her parents Mildred and Warren C. Nelson, Nancy is also preceded in death by her cherished husband Dr. Edward Murphy, dear brothers John and Nick Nelson, and first husband Gordon Pataky.
Nancy’s journey with her late husband Ed took her to golf courses around the world and ultimately to Eugene, Oregon where she became an avid Oregon Ducks fan (except when they played the Buckeyes).
Nancy will be greatly missed by her daughter Pamela (Joe) Kreber; stepchildren Mark (Tia) Murphy, Katie (Jay) Wilson and Kelli (Rich) Taylor; grandchildren Lily and Kobe Kreber, Ian Murphy, Emily (Brian) Baughman, Eryn (Lancen) Halbert, Ellie (Adam) Brown, Madison and Elijah Taylor, and 7 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Jean Gribler, sister-in-law Susie Nelson, many beloved nieces and nephews and dear friends throughout Ohio, Oregon and beyond.
Her family envisions Nancy teeing off with Ed, while planning the evening menu to feed the family. Her love of family, friends, language, food and zest for life will be remembered and missed by all whose paths she crossed.
There will be a service celebrating her life on Saturday, August 19 at 2:00 pm at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST, 1740 Zollinger Rd. Calling hours will be immediately prior from 12 – 2 PM.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to The Buckeye Ranch, or a charity of your choice in Nancy’s memory.
