Nona Julia Hunt

Nona Julia Hunt, age 84, passed away on Tuesday, October 17, 2023. Nona was born in Maple Heights, Ohio on June 30, 1939 to the late Kenneth B. and Helen N. Hunt. Nona received her Masters Degree in Education from The Ohio State University. She was a teacher with Columbus City Schools for many years. She was a golfer and skier. She loved to travel with the Columbus Ski Club and on her own. Her trip to Africa was one of her most treasured trips. Nona started volunteering for the Columbus Zoo in 1992 and was a Docent President in 2006. She had almost 5,000 volunteer hours; she taught new Docent classes. Most of her volunteer work was with Gorillas, Reptiles, Aldabra Tortoises and Horticulture. Nona had a big personality and touched a lot of lives and had many close friends. One of her favorite quotes was “I’d rather wear out than rust out.” A memorial celebrating Nona’s life will be held in the spring. Please visit www.schoedinger.com to share memories and condolences.
