Norma R. Sloan

Norma R. Sloan, age79, of Columbus, died Sunday, July 17, 2016 at her home. She was born in Manchester, England on April 16, 1937, the youngest of five children to James E. and Lina (Thompson) Cook. Norma managed the NCO Club at Rickenbacker AFB for over ten years; she then became the facilities manager at DCSC retiring after over 20 years of service. She will be dearly missed by her daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Carl Brown Jr., of Anchorage, AK; her grandchildren, Jared Stone, TN, Jenna Stone, CO, Jordan (Eden) Stone, ID and Carl Brown III, AK; great-grandchildren, Travis Stone and Devin Cason, CO, Edward and Richard Stone, ID; numerous nieces and nephews in Canada and United Kingdom and close family friends, Rick Berry, Terry and Becky Payne, Leland and Kara. Besides her parents, Norma was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Robert Sloan; son, Michael Sloan and one brother and three sisters in Canada and England. Norma was passionate about all things British and loved her canine friends. Friends may call 4-7 pm Friday at SCHOEDINGER EAST CHAPEL, 5360 East Livingston Avenue, where funeral service will be held 10:30 am Saturday, July 23, 2016. Interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
