

Norma Jean Stewart, age 93, passed away Tuesday, August 28, 2018. She was born January 11, 1925 in Cambridge, Ohio to the late Norval and Mary Heskett and is also preceded in death by her husband, Robert C. Garver; husband, Lawrence L. Stewart; and sister, Bernice McVicker. Norma is survived by her son, Blaine C. Garver; daughter, Marla J. (Garver) Hatch (Steve Cervas); step-daughter, Julia Owens; grandchildren, Kimberly J. Garver and Jared Jon (Stacy) Hatch; step-grandson, Stephen Owens; great-grandchildren, Cameron, Miranda, Jared B, Justin, and Gwenna; and great-great-granddaughter, Audrina. Norma worked and volunteered for many years. After high school, she volunteered for a year at Cambridge Hospital, caring for wounded World War II soldiers. She then went to work at U.S. Geological Survey as an administrative officer for 35 years. After she retired, Norma volunteered at Mount Carmel East Hospital for 32 more years. Norma has always loved music. She sang in numerous choirs for many years, including the Columbus Symphony Choir. She also played the guitar, wrote poetry and loved to draw. Norma was an avid gardener too and had a huge flower and vegetable garden. Norma was very active in her church. Friends may call 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at the SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST CHAPEL 1051 E. Johnstown Road, Gahanna where funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday. Interment Kingwood Memorial Park.
