

Olive Claire Ellenwood Yaple, age 92, of Columbus, Ohio passed away peacefully in her sleep after a 19 year battle with Alzheimer’s. She was born in Saginaw, MI to the late Donald Delano and Ora Maude (Drake) Ellenwood; also preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Emerson Yaple; infant son, Bruce Allen Yaple and brothers, James and Don Ellenwood. She is survived by her beloved son Byron John Yaple and his partner, Steve Watson; nieces and nephews, Sandy Ellenwood (Lonnie) Jenneman of Ft. Wayne, IN, Mike Ellenwood of Indianapolis, IN, Dan (Cindy) Ellenwood of Anna, OH, Kay Ellenwood (Adam) Schmucker of Tiffin, OH and Tom and Jimmy Ellenwood; extended family and friends. A very spiritual person, Olive enjoyed worship and prayer. She also enjoyed knitting and crocheting, gardening and appreciated music. As a young lady, she and Ralph would go on fishing trips in Canada. Olive loved animals and will be remembered as a loving mom. Family will receive friends 2-5pm Sunday, December 9, 2012 and 12-1pm Monday, December 10, 2012 at Schoedinger Midtown Chapel, 229 E. State St., Columbus, OH 43215 where services will be held Monday at 1pm; Rev. Margaret Hawk (New Creation Metropolitan Community Church) and Deaconess Linda Frank (Wexner Heritage House), officiating; interment Greenlawn Cemetery. Those who wish may contribute to Wexner Heritage House, 1151 College Ave., Columbus, OH 43209 in Olive’s memory. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the entire staff at Wexner Heritage House, especially Deaconess Linda Frank and Rabbi Cary Cozberg, for all of the love they have shown Olive the past 12 years.
