Jay was born in Hampton, Iowa, on November 13, 1938, and graduated from the University of Colorado, Boulder, with a degree in Marketing. Jay served in the US Air Force and reached the rank of Captain.
After leaving the service, Jay and his young family came to Upper Arlington in 1968, where he lived in a way we all strive to live up to, with fairness toward his employees, with endless hours of service through his church, with dedication of time and attention to his devoted extended family, and with kindness and respect extended to everyone he met. Jay’s many passions in life included attending a grandchild’s extracurricular activity, a good card game, a beautiful bike ride with his cycling group, a fun joke, cheering for a Buckeye team, and a good meal shared with a friend or loved one.
Preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Violet Armstrong. Survived by his ex-wife Martha Armstrong of Upper Arlington, Ohio; brothers, Gene (Ann) Armstrong of Chicago, Illinois, and Russell (Marcella) Armstrong of Davenport, Iowa; and his daughters Cathy (Dave) Levy of Hilliard, Ohio; Margaret (Peter) Siegel of Williamsburg, Virginia; and Anne (Bill) Remias of Dublin, Ohio, and grandchildren Rachel Remias and Ryan Remias. He will also be missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
