Owen M. Eckert

Owen M. Eckert passed away Sunday, June 28, 2015. Owen was born Dec 20, 1943 in Laporte, IN, raised in San Pierre, IN, where he graduated high school. He was a US Army veteran, attended college at Indiana University, St Joseph's College, and Ancilla College. Owen was a 40 year employee of Western Electric/ Lucent Technologies, serving in their facilities at Hawthorne IL, Chicago, IL, Oakbrook, IL and Reynoldsburg, OH throughout his career. Owen was a musician who volunteered as substitute organist in San Pierre and North Judson Indiana churches, choral director and church organist at Park View Presbyterian Church in Berwyn, IL. In Ohio, he volunteered for many charitable organizations, and even served as an officer at some. He enjoyed keeping up with the latest computer technology. He always had that open ear, and more if needed, for his many friends and family. Owen was preceded in passing by his parents Raymond and Mary Eckert, brother Lawrence, and son John Mark. He is survived by sister Alice Stalbaum (Delos), brother John (Saundra), brother Patrick, seven nieces and nephews, eight great nieces and nephews, and thirteen great-great nieces and nephews. He will certainly be missed by all the family and his many, many friends. Owen asked that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the charity of your choice. Family will welcome friends from 6-8pm Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at Schoedinger East Chapel, 5360 East Livingston Ave., Columbus 43232.
