

Owen was born on November 28, 1939 to the late Owen Sr. and May (Aldridge) Maynard in Wilsondale, WV. He grew up in Calley Nob, WV, later he and his family moved to Kermit WV so he could go to school. In 1960 he moved to Columbus, OH to go to work at Independent Towel Supply, and there he met the love of his life Miss Innis Marie Hager. They married on June 26, 1963 and celebrated over 47 years together before her passing on September 14, 2010. Over the years he owned a number of businesses but retired from Capital University in 2004. As said by his family, “Owen was always working, doing what he could to better the life of his family.” Always smiling and always lending a hand to those in need. This desire to help others lead he and Innis to become foster parents. For 22 years they fostered many children and made a positive impact in their lives. He loved his family and he was a true humanitarian. He instilled a great work ethic and a love of others into his family. He will be missed by all who were touched by him.
Along with his parents and wife, Owen is preceded in death by his daughter Mary Ann Maynard; 2 brothers, 6 sisters, and 3 grandsons.
Survivors include his children; Laura Ann Fox, Ken (Jodi) Jackson, and Alexandria Maynard; 4 grand children; 4 great grandchildren; siblings Tom (Thelma) Maynard, Mary (Woodrow)Perry, Nary (Robert) Baisden, Clyde Maynard, and Verla (Paul) Marcum, He is also survived by many loving neices, nephews, and other loving relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends at the Schoedinger North Chapel 5554 Karl Rd. Columbus, Ohio on Thursday from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. Service will follow on Friday December 17, 2010 at 11:00am at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Bethel Cemetery, Mt. Sterling, OH. Contributions may be made to the Home Reach Hospice in his name.
